Graffiti in the Streets: Cranio in São Paolo

Graffiti in the Streets: Cranio in São Paolo

São Paolo has incredible graffiti. When I was there in August, 2011, I visited an alley called “Beco do Batman” (Batman’s alley) covered with dense street art. There are signs saying not to take pictures. It’s hard. I did, although not as many as I wanted!

Around the corner from the alley I took a photo this nifty piece by Cranio. His work is distinctive—often featuring a signature blue indigenous character with a Brazilian flag loin cloth—and I saw a lot of it around São Paolo.

I especially like this piece. It feels like a sardonic look at technology’s impact on indigenous Brazilian culture.

Here’s a link to Cranio’s Instagram page with some excellent photography.
